The Hellfire 35 is a cathode biased, dual 6L6 amplifier that runs three 12AX7's for the preamp tubes. The amplifier runs a 5AR4/GZ34 tube rectifier and puts out approximately 35 watts in "Class A" operation. This amplifier has more clean headroom than most cathode biased amps, but can still get gritty and grind with the best of them. The faceplate sports Volume, Treble, and Bass controls. The Treble and Bass controls are very sensitive and command large sweeps of their respective tonal ranges.
When we say that this amp can do both clean and dirty, we mean it. The Hellfire is a medium-to-high gain amp in the world of modern tube amps. The cleans are shimmery with beautiful, soulful warmth and just the right amount of sparkle and body. The drive on this amplifier is very flexible. From semi-clean dirt, to full on aggressive rock, if you have a sound you're looking for it's probably in there! With single coil pickups the amp has beautiful chime and spank, with the aggressiveness coming on later as the volume knob is rolled up. With humbuckers, the amp barks and snarls at some lower settings, though the clean headroom with humbuckers is impressive. Did we mention thump? This amp has some punchy thump coming out of it on the front end of both single notes and chords. Simply put, it rawks!
